Scholarships
EEF Interscholastic Scholarships
Academically eligible, financially in-need students in middle school and high school who are unable to pay TUSD's mandatory participation fee for organized co-curricular activities (such as inter-mural team sports, orchestra, band, Academic Decathlon, cheerleading, spirit line, folkloric, mariachi, chess team, and JROTC) may apply for an EEF Interscholastic Scholarship, part of EEF's Special Needs Fund. Please note that the academic eligibility and financial need of all applicants must first be verified by the appropriate school site representative BEFORE submitting the application to EEF. Applicants must indicate the dollar amount of requested aid ranging from $20 to $50 and are encouraged to request only the amount they absolutely need.

Only authorized TUSD school site representatives may submit applications to the EEF Interscholastic Scholarship Assistance program on behalf of the student. EEF does not accept applications directly from students, parents, or legal guardians.
Applications are approved once a week based on the completeness of the written application. PLEASE do not leave any blank response lines or neglect to obtain the requested approvals. ONLY complete applications will be considered. Incomplete applications may be returned or denied.
EEF reserves the right to request student transcripts and documented proof of family income from the parents or guardians of the student who will receive support.
EEF is a private, charitable, community-based non-profit supported solely by private and corporate donations and governed by an independent board of directors. EEF is not part of TUSD’s annual budget and receives no funding from any government bodies. EEF’s programs are administered by its employees who are not employed by TUSD and do not represent TUSD.

Interscholastic Scholarship Funding Cycles
Applications are accepted only during these windows for these levels and are approved based on information provided on the written application as well as available EEF funds
High School
(awards may range from $20-$50 per student, per activity; students may receive no more than two scholarships total per school year)
- Fall Activities: August 1 – September 20
- Winter Activities: October 1 – January 31
- Spring Activities: February 1 – April 1
Middle School
(awards are for $20 only and cover all activities for the full school year)
- Early Fall Activities: August 1- September 15
- Late Fall: October 1 – November 10
- Winter: December 1 – January 15
- Spring: February 1 – March 30
College Scholarships for TUSD Seniors
The Educational Enrichment Foundation offers approximately 20 college scholarships to TUSD seniors who successfully complete all State and District graduation requirement (see full descriptions for specific application qualifications). These include the following scholarships (see descriptions below):

Funk/Cordell Education Fund Scholarship
The Educational Enrichment Foundation’s Allocations Committee will award two (2) $2,000 one-year scholarships. Students will be notified no later than the first week of May. Scholarships may be used to attend an accredited public or private Arizona college or university. Payment will be made directly to the institution and may be applied to tuition, fees, and books.
Who May Apply?
We are looking for TUSD students who intend to graduate in May or have graduated from a TUSD High School in the previous fall semester. Applicants must be planning to attend an accredited Arizona college or university and pursue a major in math, a science, or engineering.
Qualifications
Applicants must clearly articulate their intent to study math and/or science in college in preparation for a career utilizing math and/or science. Applicants’ studies must show a strong interest and aptitude in math and/or science.
Pima Community College Foundation (PCCF) Moving Forward Scholarship
Pima Community College Foundation (PCCF) Moving Forward Scholarship is available to seniors who intend to graduate in May 2011 (or who graduated in December 2010) from any TUSD High School or Alternative Education program. The Educational Enrichment Foundation’s (EEF) Allocations Committee will award Ten $1,000 scholarships that can be used to attend Pima Community College ONLY. Students will be notified of the award the first week of May. The funds will be available prior to the start of school in the fall of 2011.
Who May Apply?
Seniors attending TUSD High Schools or Alternative Education programs who will graduate in May 2011 or who graduated in December 2010 and who intend to pursue post secondary education at Pima Community College. Please note that we are not necessarily looking for honor roll students. We are looking for students who have clearly demonstrated the desire and skill to succeed personally and academically.
Qualifications
Applicants must:
- Show future promise by having overcome adversity
- Have a strong motivation to continue their education
- Need monetary assistance to continue her/his education (i.e. would not have the opportunity to acquire post-high school education without financial help)
- Have two recommendations from adults who are not family members
Kenneth Paulin Memorial Scholarship
The Educational Enrichment Foundation will award one $1,000 scholarship in memory of Kenneth H. Paulin, an innovative and much revered automotive technology teacher at Palo Verde and Sahuaro High Schools. Students will be notified no later than the second week of May. Scholarships may be used to attend an accredited public or private Arizona college, university, or trade school. Payment will be made directly to the institution and may be applied to tuition, fees, and books. The funds will be available prior to the start of school in the fall of 2011.
Qualifications
Available to TUSD seniors who demonstrate aptitude and interest in math and science and who intend to pursue post secondary studies related to automotive technology, transportation, alternative energy/fuels, or related engineering fields at an accredited trade or vocational school, college, or university. Applicants must also demonstrate financial need. In an original 300 word essay applicants must describe a business or engineering endeavor they would pursue if given a capital investment of $100,000.
Who May Apply?
TUSD high school students who intend to graduate in May 2011 or who graduated in December 2010. Applicants must be planning to attend an accredited Arizona college, university, or trade school. Please note that we are not necessarily looking for honor roll students. We are looking for innovative students who clearly demonstrate a passion for learning and an aptitude for math, science, engineering, and/or the automotive arts.
James C. Stewart Scholarship
The Educational Enrichment Foundation will award one $1,000 scholarship. Students will be notified no later than the second week of May. Scholarships may be used to attend an accredited public or private Arizona college, university, or trade school. Payment will be made directly to the institution and may be applied to tuition, fees, and books.
Who May Apply?
Pueblo Magnet High School students who intend to graduate in May 2011 or who graduated in December 2010. Applicants must be planning to attend an accredited Arizona college, university or trade school and articulate financial need. Please note that we are not necessarily looking for honor roll students. We are looking for students who have clearly demonstrated the desire and skill to succeed personally and academically and who need financial support to attend college or a trade school.
Qualifications
Students must demonstrate a strong competence in skills required for success in post high school educational pursuit, a history of overcoming adversity, and financial need.
Lou Farber Memorial Scholarship
The Educational Enrichment Foundation will award one $1,000 scholarship. Students will be notified no later than the second week of May. Scholarships may be used to attend an accredited public or private college, university or trade school. Payment will be made directly to the institution and may be applied to tuition, fees, and books.
Who May Apply?
Pueblo Magnet High School students who intend to graduate in May 2010 or who graduated in December 2009. Applicants must be planning to attend an accredited Arizona college, university, or trade school and intend to pursue a competitive sport at the college level.
Qualifications
The recipient must have both graduated from Pueblo Magnet High School and have played football for Pueblo for at least one season. Additionally, the recipient must plan to pursue a competitive sport at the college level.
Jose Marquez, Vail Award
The Educational Enrichment Foundation will award one $1,000 scholarship. Students will be notified no later than the second week of May. Scholarships may be used to attend an accredited public or private Arizona college, university, or trade school. Payment will be made directly to the institution and may be applied to tuition, fees, and books. The funds will be available prior to the start of school in the fall of 2011.
Qualifications
Available only to graduates of Pueblo Magnet High School. In a 300 word essay applicants must: show a strong motivation to continue their education beyond high school (additionally supported by letters of reference, history of work outside of school, and involvement in community activities); highlight skills required for success in post high school educational pursuit; and explain why they need monetary assistance to continue their education beyond high school.
Who May Apply?
Pueblo Magnet High School students who intend to graduate in May 2011 or who graduated in December 2010. Applicants must be planning to attend an accredited Arizona college, university, or trade school. Please note that we are not necessarily looking for honor roll students. We are looking for students who have clearly demonstrated the desire and skill to succeed personally and academically and who need financial support to attend college or a trade school.
